A new research study published in the American Journal of Gastroenterology clearly shows that hypnotherapy can improve symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome.
60% of the patients who underwent gut-directed hypnotherapy showed distinct improvement, compared to the control group who showed markedly less improvement after merely discussing their symptoms with a professional physician.
Because one’s state of mind has been shown to have a direct connection to the strength of IBS symptoms (as well as other gut-related disorders), it is not surprising that these symptoms could be improved by positive hypnotherapy. What is surprising is that these effects show a long-term effect and that this is present regardless of the length that a patient has been suffering from IBS.
